Masha Lavrova lives in a small town with her mother Anna, older sister Nadezhda, her husband Sergei and their daughter Sonia. Masha - has high hopes for a talented pianist, and Sergei and Nadezhda - young scientists who have long been called to work in the capital. But suddenly trouble comes: Masha and Nadezhda's mother dies in a car accident, Masha herself is injured, which destroys her dream of becoming a pianist, and her boyfriend betrays her with another girl. In despair, Masha is ready to give up everything and go with Sergei and Nadezhda to the capital, but life opens up new opportunities for her - Masha begins to teach music to talented children.
Passes 12 years. Masha successfully works as a teacher in her native music school and is going to marry her beloved man - TV presenter Andriy Nazarenko. But Masha's life is ruined again: suddenly Andrew's "prodigal" wife returns from another country, and the machinations of envious colleagues force her to resign from school. Masha moves to the capital, to Nadezhda, Sergey and Sonya to start all over again. But here Masha faces difficult trials: Nadezhda dies suddenly, Sonya is pregnant by a married man, and Masha herself can not find her place in a big city. And then comes a new love: Masha and Sergei, in addition to their will, fall in love with each other. But Masha is sure that the relationship with her late sister's husband is impossible ...

The protagonist is Mikhail Razumovsky, a former paratrooper who took part in several military campaigns. After retirement, Razumovsky adjusts to civilian life and starts working as a driver in an unremarkable taxi company.
