1965. The young poet Vasyl Stus cannot put up with the disenfranchised Ukrainians in the Soviet Union and challenges the totalitarian system. He talks about what millions are silent about. Despite the constant pressure and threats, Stus does not stop fighting even in exile.

September 1985. A collection of Stimpsestas records by Stus, written by him at a political prison camp, is being prepared in the West for the Nobel Prize in Literature. The KGB is excited about this fact and cannot allow such an award to elevate the Ukrainian cause to an unprecedented height. Therefore, a special KGB agent arrives at the Perm-36 camp, who has the task at all costs of seducing the poet with fanciful freedom in exchange for refusing to be nominated for a prize.

The commander of the assault group of the Donbass battalion Beshoot, who was wounded in the battle of Ilovaysk, remains miraculously alive in the occupied city. He is wanted by a Russian officer named Runkov, appointed commander of the Ilovay Region, for whom this war has turned into a personal tragedy, and he seeks revenge, not justice. But who actually trapped them?
