Adaptation of the section "The River that Floats Against its Own Flow" from Sergei Zhadan's novel "Despechmod".

Three friends are urgently required to locate a fourth who has disappeared in an unknown direction and to report his suicide by stepfather. In one of the apartments they find a friend by the nickname "Cocoa", who tells them about the whereabouts of the missing Sasha Carburetor. In this very apartment, under the influence of light drugs, Vasya Communist and another character of the film named Zhadan listen to an evening show about the British band Depeche Mode.
