This documentary project, created to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine,  traces the path of compromises and mistakes it has taken.

Through the testimonies of eyewitnesses and those who took part in the events, the film recounts how not only the founding law of the new Ukrainian state was born, but also the autonomy of Ukrainian parliamentarism, which, unlike in other post-Soviet countries, signified a choice in favour of the democratic path.

The film is based on archive material from the Suspilne Media Library, Yaroslav Kendzor’s extensive video archive, and the testimonies of those who were directly involved in the historical event.

The key narrators in the film are members of the Second Convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: Roman Bezsmertnyi, Ivan Chyzh, Serhii Holovatyi, Ivan Zaiets, Yaroslav Kendzor, Ihor Koliushko, constitutional law expert Yulia Kyrychenko, journalist Iryna Pohorelova, and judges of the Constitutional Court from various terms, Petro Stetsiuk and Volodymyr Shapoval. The film also features an excerpt from an exclusive interview given by Leonid Kuchma, President of Ukraine (1994–2004), to Suspilne.
