The main character is Arsen, a weightlifting coach at a provincial Palace of Culture and Sport. Due to a senseless misunderstanding, Arsen is blamed for the injury sustained by the dance coach. To save the club and keep his protégé Sasha’s chances of making it to the Olympics alive, Arsen agrees to a harsh ‘punishment’ — he becomes the head of the ballroom dancing section.
But for Sasha himself, sport takes a back seat: he falls in love with Milana, the leader of the dance section. Sashko is a lad from a working-class family; Milana is the mayor’s daughter. Their relationship blossoms at the intersection of sporting ambitions, social barriers and their shared love of dance, which changes them both.
Will dancing get in the way of weightlifting, or, on the contrary, will it help? A battle begins: strength versus grace, discipline versus freedom.
