The story of the lone, stubborn bank manager, Joseph K., whom a mysterious court official announces that he has been arrested (hiding the cause of his arrest). Joseph categorically refuses that he may be guilty of something. He is confronted with public condemnation, public ridicule, and ambiguous attitude toward his process, and understands that in order to be released, he will have to reconsider his attitude to the Process itself.
