Canadian police sergeant Joe Sokoloff travels to distant Russia to fulfil his beloved grandmother's last request. But from his first steps in his historical homeland, all of Joe's plans are ruined – he is robbed on the train by his “kind neighbours”. Left behind by the train, the 30-year-old rodeo and country music fan, who looks at the world with joyful, wide-open eyes, finds himself in a small Kuban village without money or documents. The funny eccentric in a white cowboy hat enters the “strange world of strange Russians”. Here they drown newborn puppies, eat fish caught in the river, and slap children! But it only took Joe a few days to understand these people, accept them with all his heart, and fall in love with the beautiful Cossack girl Lisa. But is there a future for this love?
