“Robert” is the feature-length debut of Ukrainian director Dmytro Kaminskyi. It is a portrait of a man who seems – all at once – a local madman, a street philosopher, a stand-up comedian with no stage, and a child lost in the adult world.

In Berezan, everyone knows where to find Robert – either in bed at home or at the flower stall “Astrolika.” He is an artist, a model, a photographer, a tattoo artist, a fitness coach, a tarot reader, a florist – depending on the mood, the day of the week, and the time of day. By nature, Rob is a performance person. And of course – a bit of an oddball. But understanding who he really is – that’s a different kind of task.

This is a film about someone who never ran away from the world – but never tried to fit into it either.

He’s not a hero, not a role model, not a motivator. And that’s not a flaw – it’s his path. It’s a film about difference, freedom, and choice. With him, we explore what it means to be radically honest in a world that always demands something from you.

The film contains no interviews or voice-over – it is built from intimate, often spontaneous scenes that reflect the protagonist’s inner rhythm.
