Part 1

Mykola Lysenko and Olha O'Connor knew each other since childhood, as their two noble families were on friendly terms. The Lysenko's are Cossack elders. The O'Connors are from an Irish family that has long since settled in Ukraine. After the wedding, they lived in Leipzig and St Petersburg, where they both studied music. About the beginning of the long and not very happy marriage of Mykola Lysenko and Olga O'Connor.

Part 2

After ten years of a not very happy childless marriage, another woman appears in Mykola Lysenko's life - Olga Lipska. She becomes the mother of his children, but Olga O'Connor does not agree to divorce Lysenko. And the mother of Lysenko's six children cannot become his legal wife. The film tells about the happy years of Mykola Lysenko's life with Olha Lypska, their love and the tragic death of his beloved woman.

Part 3

After the tragic death of his beloved wife, Olga Lipska, Mykola Lysenko was lonely in his private life. He takes care of his five orphaned children, and Olga O'Connor agrees to give them the right to become noblemen. And at the end of his life, fate once again grants Lysenko love with his student Inna Andrianopolska. About the latter
