The film tells the story of the life and work of producer and film director Oleksandr Khanzhonkov (1877-1945), one of the founders of Ukrainian cinema.
The life of O. Khanzhonkov was full of dramatic events. Khanzhonkov's life was full of dramatic events: the creation of the first large film enterprise, the production of the first full-length national film The Defence of Sevastopol (1911), the beginning of the grandiose construction of a film factory in Yalta, and then the destruction of all his achievements and dreams by the Soviet authorities and the end of his life spent in poverty and complete oblivion.
