During the Russian offensive in Ukraine, Roman helps his ex-lover Yulia and her son leave the city for a village, believing it to be a safer place. However, in a matter of hours, the village where Yulia's parents live is occupied by the Russians. Frightened, confused locals are trapped by the invaders with no way to escape - the occupiers quickly establish their own order, loot shops and houses, and severely punish those who try to resist. Realizing that help will be a long time coming, Roman begins to act decisively and joins the partisan movement.
