A film from the documentary series Fortress Mariupol.
The film's protagonist, Valeria "Nava" Subbotina, is a journalist, poet, and military officer. Valeria is originally from Mariupol. She worked in the press service of the Azov regiment, and later in the State Border Guard Service.
When Russian troops began to surround Mariupol, Nava stayed in the city to defend it with her beloved, whom she loved dearly. Nava would end up at Azovstal with her Azov family. Wounded in the bunker, she will start writing poetry. We recorded a video call with the girl at Azovstal, and she sent us a poem in a video message. At the plant, she will marry her beloved Andriy. He will die 3 days after the wedding.
On April 10, 2023, Nava returned from Russian captivity, where she had been held for 11 months.
