"I'm Not Afraid" is the story of 17-year-old Polina, who, together with her mother, returns home from the west – from the Chernivtsi region – to the Kyiv region in October 2022. Here, traces of the carnage are still everywhere – wrecked cars, bullet-riddled fences, burnt-out windows. And their flat is like a desert, because Russian soldiers lived here. Together with her mother, they clean everything up. Polina's father died in Donbas in 2016, and her older brother is currently fighting in the Zaporizhzhia region. The two of them are trying to rebuild their lives, but heavy shelling begins and Polina seeks refuge with her mother.
