When Vitalii Vitruk's business was destroyed by the coronavirus, but he still had a family to feed, he decided to work abroad. Instead of the promised job, however, he found himself in despair in a forest somewhere in the Czech Republic. The man managed to return, and he decided to do everything possible to prevent those who deceived him from deceiving others.
Vitalii Khodorovskyi from Ivano-Frankivsk, one of hundreds of victims of one of the biggest scams involving Ukrainian migrant workers, fought against the other fraudsters. The journalists take it upon themselves to find out what happened. They manage to unravel the fraudulent tangle faster than the police.
“Work abroad. Poland, Czech Republic, Finland. Vacancies” — social media and classifieds sites are filled with such ads. However, it often turns out to be a scam.
How are Ukrainians being cheated? The investigative film Selling a Job (for a Price) is about those who successfully earn money by misleading migrant workers and the state's inability to prevent this.
