A year ago, Slavik, an artistic and a bit naive ceramicist from Kharkiv, traveled all over Ukraine to collect 25 plaster casts of different body parts of 25 Ukrainian girls. The head was molded in Lysychansk, the legs in Sloviansk, the buttocks in Chernihiv. Then he combined all the details into a complete ceramic sculpture “United Ukraine” in honor of the 30th anniversary of independence. But Slavik is a believer, and the church he attended since childhood does not approve of his art, because he often makes casts of women’s private body parts. So Slavik began his own research on the fine line between art and sin. He met and talked with priests of various churches, members of the community of Christian students, provocative musicians-believers, and finally met Yulia, an athlete of the Paralympic team of Ukraine, who is fond of pole dancing. He decided to make a new sculpture, blindfolded.
