A young psychologist, Artem, is in trouble. His loved one is addicted to drugs. Amphetamine psychosis develops. She becomes dangerous — she walks around with a weapon and aims at people.

Artem starts looking for a way to save her. While still a student, he worked for three years in rehabilitation centers for alcohol and drug addicts. This work traumatized him — all the institutions are closed, and people are held there by force.

To find out what closed centers are and what methods are used there, the Suspilne journalists go to different cities of Ukraine and interview dozens of former rehabilitation patients. The investigators expose large networks of centers where people are beaten, tied up with duct tape and forced to pray. The Suspilne team reveals cases when rehabilitates did not return from the centers alive.

In the course of their investigation, the journalists also revealed that even a person without addiction can be placed in such an institution for money. The system operates in the shadows, and the principles of such rehabilitation are supported by politicians. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy himself has become a supporter of the IAA network. Moreover, Ukrainian politicians are now trying to legitimize the funding of private centers from the state budget.
