Adaptation of Osip Makoy's eponymous story.

The film unfolds an incredible story about how Taras Grigorovich himself leaves his portrait after commemorating his anniversary at the banquet of a scientific society bearing the name of the poet. Shevchenko is bored listening to his genius - and he decides to find a job. But many just make a big name for themselves. The film's authors believe that the best cure for all moral ills is laughter and irony. Just as 100 years ago the author of the story believed.
