The action takes place in the autumn of 1944. The Red Army is already standing on the threshold of Reich, but it doesn’t mean that Germany accepted its defeat. The Nazis have nothing left but to eliminate Anti-Hitler coalition leaders. In late October, 1944, at Kagul frontier railway station an emergency accident happens. During document check senior lieutenant Koshkin opens fire on border guard. While crossfire he gets a lethal wound and before he dyes, he tells the major of SMERSH that he is an enemy diversionist going to the military sanatorium to meet a German resident. Lieutenant’s death confession alarmed the Soviet counter-intelligence agency. General Polunochenko decides to report on the emergency accident directly to Moscow. Moscow sends the special commissioner who tells the general that at the beginning of 1945 in Yalta the meeting between Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt will take place. It becomes clear that there is a subversive group operating in the Crimea and their mission is to wreck the ally talks. The Soviet counter-intelligence decides to make the enemy play by its rules. SMERSH captain goes to the military sanatorium using Koshkin’s documents. He assumes that the coral bead sewed on diversionists’ pouch will serve as an identification mark. The captain starts up his own investigation.
