The film tells the story of a renowned Ukrainian writer, politician, and public figure, as well as one of the founders of Ukrainian independence. 

In the story, five students from the Oles Honchar Dnipro University set off on a journey to discover for themselves the nature and talent of the master. They write essays, share their thoughts, debate, and strive to understand the era, which was marked by dramatic events and preceded the country’s independence.
