In the family of a hereditary priest, the eldest son Mykola is fond of music and, against the will of his parents and family traditions, decides to become a secular teacher. He learns to play 5 musical instruments by himself. He creates choirs. The love to the Ukrainian song makes him a wonderful arranger who polishes his works up to complete perfection. Having famous friends, he gets an opportunity to show his works to a famous conductor.  But success does not come immediately. Only in a few years  the public in Kiev and later in Europe will  hear these original works, which are able to change the image of Ukraine. The author himself is living in poverty  at this time, barely making ends meet. But he never stops working.  He writes his new composition with his student, who is very sympathetic to him. But he can’t finish the job. The stinging  bullet of secret service agent cuts off the composer’s life in the parents' house. Meanwhile his  song Shchedryk becomes a hit worldwide.  A decade later, an American composer makes a new arrangement of Shchedryk and the whole world forgets the real composer’s name. Our goal is to bring back the glory of the author of Shchedryk - M.Leontovich.
