Everything changes: times, generations, seasons. But some things remain unchanged — the traditions of your people. With each passing year, Ukrainian rituals and customs are increasingly being forgotten, which has a direct impact on the problem of the loss of Ukrainian identity that is so relevant today. My work is not just about the Malanka festival. It is about the preservation and transmission of Ukrainian traditions as a whole. A recurring motif in the film is the carol ‘Oi, raduysya, zemle!’ (‘Rejoice, O Earth!’), which embodies the idea of Ukrainian unity.
