Fedor Mohyla is a young man at the beginning of the middle age crisis. Frustrated by the consumer society and shattered by chronic depression, he tries to find meaning for his own existence in the possibility of building a better world and a better, more perfect person. Professor Gurov's project, Adam-22, to which Fedor joins, explores the prospects of creating an open, secure society based on technological innovations free from the irrational dictates of the senses. Is a person able to forgive and believe again, even after experiencing the greatest emotional pain? And is that enough to really call yourself a "human"?
