After the death of his father, Vlad Rudych wants to move from a small village in the mountains to the city to enter an economic university, but his older brother Stepan is categorically against it. At night, a fire breaks out in the house, in which Stepan dies. Due to a quarrel that took place the day before between Vlad and Stepan, it was his fellow villagers who suspected arson and murder.
