Lera, a graduate of the Pedagogical Institute, is moving to the city of Pripyat, one of the most comfortable and well-off places in the Soviet Union, to work as a primary school teacher. Here she enters adult life for the first time, meets young interesting people and finds a real great love - a nuclear engineer Vitas, who came to Chernobyl on a business trip.
