The film is based on the story of three women who survived the Holodomor of the 1930s, through the prism of the memories of their descendants.

The grandmother of one of the heroines, Svitlana Zalischuk, left behind a diary in which she wrote down her memories of terrible times. A 12-year-old girl, Veronika from Uman, and her mother made a film about their grandmother, Ksenia Logvinyuk, who told where people found food and how they escaped starvation. Another 12-year-old heroine of the film Sasha did not find her great-grandmother alive, but according to her father's stories she recreated the experience of her relative.
