Spring 1944. Occupied Belarus. As a result of the reconnaissance operation, information was obtained that in Square Z there was a camp for prisoners of war of the Soviet Army and Wehrmacht and SS penalties. The camp is led by Commander Colonel Blucher, assisted by a young and daring SS Captain Schultz. But there is a third force in the camp that does not obey anyone and is terrifying – it is SS Colonel Oscar Dirlevanger. The Soviet command decides to conduct a subversive operation, which previously seemed impossible, aimed at neutralizing Oscar Dirlevanger. Counterintelligence officer Oleksandr Gromov volunteered to lead the operation. He prepared an extremely risky operation Deserter, which should take place in two stages. But the war is making tough adjustments to the group's plans.
