Father, mother and son during the Second World War fought for the freedom of Ukraine, each in his own way. His father fought and died in the Red Army, his mother worked as the secretary of the Union of Ukrainian Women (Galicia's largest women's organization), and 16-year-old Mykhailo was an ardent supporter of anti-Soviet propaganda, for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
