Year 1839, South India. Nandini, Devadasi's daughter, was orphaned at the age of five. A friend of the mother, a priest, takes the girl to the temple. She follows the path of a nanny and at the age of 9 becomes Devadasi (wife of God). Since then, her life has changed tremendously. Her poor best friend Shyam is trying to free Nandini from the golden cage, but it's not easy. Which way will the girl choose?
