Anya is accustomed to achieving everything in life herself. In many ways, denying herself, she is the only one in the family who works, cares for her mother and sister. Ani's sister Masha is the complete opposite. Since childhood, the darling of parents who performed every whim, she used to get the best of it and be popular with men.
Masha easily picks up Ana's sweetheart, Yuri, who is actually not interested in Masha or Aeneas, but in Moscow's residence permit. Life brings new surprises to Ani: a man suddenly emerges who declares himself to be Ani's real father. Severely ill, he appears to apologize. Ani's joy does not last long: her father dies. The legacy left after him does not give any rest to Ani's relatives, and the newly minted Muscovite Yuri again tries to move from one sister to another, breaking the heart of Masha now.
The suffering of both sisters makes one think that it is best to achieve everything yourself or to receive gifts of fate? Anya and Masha alone cannot answer this question until the very finale of the painting, everyone dreams of swapping places with their sister.
