Based on the story of Mykola Gogol's Sorochinsky Fair.

Wealthy peasant Solopiy Boot goes to the famous Sorochinsky fair to sell wheat. Along with him goes all his family: the feuding wife of Hebra and three daughters Parasca, Horpin and Motrya. The young man Gritsko, having met at the Paraska fair, falls in love with her. But Hivri's stepmother opposed their wedding. Grytsko meets at the fair with a gypsy, a fortune teller, who helps him persuade Paraski's parents to betray his daughter.

At the same time, comic events unfolding around the mysterious story of the red scroll are unfolding. Kumo's entire story of the Red Scroll is filmed and saturated with many eccentric scenes. In the finale of the story, the main characters find happiness, and it all ends with a fun wedding.
