The show's main character, a lovely and humble student Maria Ilyina, has to quit studying to help her family. Without regretting herself, Maria takes on any job – in the morning she refills the car at the gas station, and then rushes to the cafe where she works as a waitress. Her sincerity and hard work are shamelessly used by her stepmother and step-sister, who betray Mary when trouble comes to their house – Mary's father is found dead, his firm is declared bankrupt, and the apartment of Ilyin is arrested. For the sake of saving his father, Mary decides to take a desperate step and agrees to become a surrogate mother for a childless but very rich couple. She has to hide her pregnancy even from loved ones. Left in complete solitude, she does not suspect – the real trouble is yet to come. Only the carefree and good-natured handsome Kostya Gorodetsky can save her. But meeting him so angered Mary that love between young people seems impossible.
