Typical representative of the "golden youth" of Moscow, the son of banker Valer falls into the deaf and remote from civilization Hutsul village. Because of his father's economic machinations, the boy must hide from the Russian mafia far and high in the Ukrainian Carpathians, with his uncle Ivan Petruk. Due to a long-standing conflict with his brother, Ivan is not happy about his nephew, and under pressure from his peasants allows him to stay. But to the misfortune of all the villagers and uncle Ivan, Valera falls in love with the local girl Xenia.
