The prominent Ukrainian artist Georgy Narbut lived at the turn of the century and died early in 1920. He was in love with the World of Art magazine, studied in Munich, witnessed the beginning and end of the Ukrainian Revolution. His illustration of Andersen's Soloveyk is known by more than one generation of readers.
