In her 38 years, criminal expert Oleksandr Ladinina has never married or intends to marry. She lives with her math-mate, who travels to conferences all the time, and brings up a 13-year-old fidgety brother, called the Squash. Ladinina lives for the sake of her favorite work and believes only in facts that, unlike people, will never be erased. She is valued, respected and feared. But all her well-settled life in medical gloves turns upside down at the moment when the new head of the slaughterhouse comes to their UMVD – Ilya Vlasov, a former grandmother and balagur, with whom she went to one kindergarten, and who knew her as Shusha. She thinks that everything that happened between them 18 years ago is forgotten... But sometimes Ladinina can be wrong.
