The story takes place in the VII century.  AD and unfolds in parallel in two Slavic settlements – the town of the farmers Furnau and in the village of hunters and shepherds Velykyi Stil, hidden high in the Carpathians, where the main character, the young enchantress Draha, lives. The orphaned girl, endowed with magical powers, is looking for a way to save her brother, and once in the forest she finds a wounded stranger who does not remember who he is and where he came from. Draha saves a stranger, together they try to find out about his past. But the more the heroes learn, the greater danger threatens the inhabitants of the Slavic settlements. Peaceful people are forced to turn into warriors in order to repulse the old formidable enemies – the nomadic Avars...
