The film takes place in the 1960s and 1970s in the USSR. Ivan Bondar, a young student, is expelled from the Institute, sent to the colony only for the fact that he was a believer, unwilling to hide his faith in God. But the rigorous trials of the Soviet regime only reinforce his faith, by which he converts other people to God.
