The film takes place in Kiev, within one day. Danilo Prylyulyak's guide, which caters to foreigners, invents, by will of circumstances, an impromptu route for the Americans, dedicated to the life of the little-known but talented poet, Danilo Prytylyak. The action develops on three levels: the melodramatic story of the protagonist, the picture of the life of the big city, and the associative memories and fantasies inspired by the poems the character reads.
