April 26, 1986 – the first day after the Chernobyl accident. Saturday is ignorance. Saturday, when life can't be canceled, when girls wear off-the-heel shoes – because Saturday is a day off. The events of the film unfold in the first 24 hours after the accident. The main character of the picture becomes an involuntary witness to the disaster. By chance, he learns the whole truth about the tragedy and faces a moral choice: to save people or to execute an order from above and not to sow panic.
