The Festival of Current Animation and Media Arts LINOLEUM in 2021 will take place from September 1 to 5 in a hybrid format: screenings of competition and special programs will be held offline at the Kyiv cinema "October", the educational program will be broadcast online on YouTube channel and Facebook page of the festival.
This year's theme of LINOLEUM - "Presence. Proximity. Touch". One day we woke up in a world where the usual order of things fell apart. We quickly learned that physical presence is almost a rarity, intimacy is forbidden entertainment, and touch is a mortal danger.
This year the organizers of the festival received 2892 applications from 75 countries. Traditionally, there will be three competitions - international, Ukrainian and commercial animation competition. Also planned are programs of experimental and children's animation, screenings of Ukrainian retrospectives, LADIES FIRST programs (women's films about women), as well as a program of fresh Polish animation from the annual partner of the festival O! PLA. Two retrospectives of Estonian animation (classic and modern), a continuation of last year's #killmeplease selection, which will take place in two different programs, as well as a selection dedicated to the festival theme and VR animation are waiting for the audience.
And the most important update of the festival program: a selection of New Faces will present the works of promising Ukrainian animators who have not yet participated in the festival.
The LINOLEUM 2021 festival is organized by the Animagrad animation studio and will be supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinematography. The media partner of the festival is the portal "New Ukrainian Cinema".

LINOLEUM International Festival of Contemporary Animation and Media Art is the largest international animation festival in Ukraine, which has existed since 2014. Every year LINOLEUM offers participants and visitors to watch the best national and world animation, attend a special educational program and take part in workshops of recognized and well-known representatives of the animation industry of the country and the world. The main goal of the festival is to promote independent animation in Ukraine.
