Kyiv International Short Film Festival (KISFF) 2020 will take place from 5 to 9 August at the Kyivska Rus cinema and online. This will be the first film festival in Ukraine after the lifting of the ban on cinemas and the first hybrid festival. For the safety of spectators, the filling of the hall will be a maximum of 25% of its capacity, and a long break between sessions will avoid crowds in the lobby.
This year's focus KISFF - LESS IS MORE. The festival will cover the topics of environmental threats, global consumption, overproduction and gentrification.
In "Kievan Rus" the festival will present international and Ukrainian competitions, programs Animation Madness, Midnight Sexy Shorts, Out & Proud. "Less is more: No Connections" by Swiss curator Dolphin Jannare, "CINEMA LOVE", born out of longing for quarantined cinemas, "together: apart" about the experience of self-isolation, as well as a retrospective of Canadian animator Teodor Ushev.
Online KISFF will present four more programs: "Queer Animation" and FEM RIOT, dedicated to environmental issues "Less is more: Wild Future" and "Less is more: What Matters", a program that addresses the topic of emotional intimacy and humanity. The online part of the festival will be available free of charge throughout Ukraine by registration.
