Qualified psychoanalyst Ruben Brandt effectively treats entrenched criminals, but nightmares, inspired by famous pictures, begin to elude him. He thinks the only way to heal is to steal thirteen masterpieces from the world's largest museums. Gathering a team of four of his patients, he begins to realize what he intended.
