The Law of Ukraine “On Cinematography” (No. 9/98-VR) was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 13.01.1998. The current version with amendments and additions is valid from October 16, 2020.
The law defines the legal basis of activities in the field of cinematography and regulates social relations related to the production, distribution, storage and demonstration of films in Ukraine. In addition, the law provides an explanation of which films fall under the definition of “Ukrainian national film”.
